A food cannot be "organic" if it is not certified. As required by European legislation, in particular by regulations CE n. 834/2007 e n. 889/2008, the organic certification guarantees the traceability of the entire production chain. In fact, to protect the consumer, those who produce but also those who sell products marked as organic must be subjected to checks by a body legally recognized by the competent authority, which in Italy is the Ministry for Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies.

The objective of the provisions is also to ensure that the products are obtained without the use of synthetic chemicals and without the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs)..

When purchasing an organic product, it is therefore a good rule to check the certification.
